Message from the Chair of the ESR Board of Directors

Dear ESR Member,
Dear Colleague,
Dear Friend,

Those of you who studied Latin in school will be familiar with the expression “Annus mirabilis”. Translated literally, this Latin phrase means “a wonderful year”, “a miraculous year” or simply “an amazing year”. It is a term that we still use today to refer to a year during which events of major importance occurred, events that will be remembered. Well, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the European Society of Radiology, I am happy to share a little secret with you: 2017 was without any doubt an Annus Mirabilis for our society (ESR) and for our congress (ECR).

ESR looks back on a successful International Day of Radiology 2017

The International Day of Radiology (IDOR) took place for the sixth time on November 8, this year, focusing on emergency radiology. The special day was celebrated by individual supporters and more than 160 radiology-related professional societies all around the world.

The new IDOR book ‘HELP – Emergency Medical Imaging’ is available on the website as downloadable pdf. Under the editorial leadership of Professor Robert F. Dondelinger from Liège, Belgium, 42 authors from all over the world contributed to the book. In addition, 30 interviews with emergency radiology experts from different countries, conducted by the ESR, have been published on the IDOR webpage.

During the past year the European Society of Radiology strengthened its ties with ESR representatives and staff participating in various national and international conferences.
Apart from meeting old and new friends in Ukraine, Brazil, Iceland, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Romania, Singapore, Australia, and Bulgaria amongst others, we were present with information booths and reduced registration fees for delegates.
